Memory of a Nation

Value: Up to two $2,500 scholarships

Memory of a Nation referred to hereafter as “the scholarship” is available to a candidate of Ukrainian Heritage and a member of St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church who:

  1. is currently enrolled in or has a Grade 12 diploma and has not attended a post-secondary institution.

  2. has been accepted and plans to attend an accredited Canadian university.

  3. demonstrates leadership and participation in both the Ukrainian and the local community.

  4. shows above average academic skills with a minimum average of 80% or GPA equivalent.

  5. has been an active member of St. Joseph’s Parish for at least two years.

  6. has provided an original and signed Letter of Reference.

  7. has chosen one or more of the themes which appears on the “Memory of a Nation” sculpture and has written an essay or produced a personal reflection video [preferable option] stating how this theme(s) has or will impact the candidate’s future in a positive manner.

Application deadline is September 1st of each calendar year.

SCHOLARSHIPS

St. Joseph’s Parish

Scholarship

Value: $1,000

Purpose: To encourage, recognize and promote the youth of St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church to actively participate and assume a responsible role in the Parish, the Ukrainian community and the broader Canadian society and to assist them in furthering their education.

Criteria:

Each candidate must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. is currently enrolled in or has a Grade 12 diploma and has not attended a post-secondary institution

  2. has a minimum grade 12 average of 70% (B) or GPA equivalent

  3. has been accepted and plans to attend an accredited community college anywhere in the world on a full-time basis within 6 months of the scholarship application deadline date

  4. has been an active member of St. Joseph’s Parish for at least two years

5. has demonstrated active participation and leadership in Parish life and the broader community

6. has provided an original and signed Letter of Recommendation

7. has completed and submitted the application form

8. has written and submitted a 300-500 word essay stating why he/she is a good candidate for receiving this scholarship and why he/she is deserving of financial assistance

ST. JOSEPH’S PARISH

Scholarship

Walter  & Anne Lubinsky Memorial Scholarship 

Scholarship

Value: $500.00

PURPOSE: An award is to be made annually from the fund for the purpose of granting a scholarship to a student enrolled in Trades or Education in order to provide financial assistance to said student to attend a college or university.

Application deadline date is April 1st.

Criteria:

The following criteria must be met by each applicant:

  1. is a registered member of St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church for a minimum of 6 months

  2. has volunteered at events at St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church for a minimum of 12 hours/year

  3. is a Canadian or has a Canadian citizenship or permanent residency

  4. is a Christian
